Our 4 year old program follows a play based curriculum which engages the children and encourages a love of learning. Children are offered the opportunity to engage in experiences that reflect their varying developmental stages. We allow for open-ended activities where the children are free to explore at their own personal level, where they can think and express themselves creatively. Our objective is to focus on the “process” the children go through to achieve a task, rather than the “end product”.
The role of our teachers is to guide, evoke and extend children’s interests. Staff continually evaluate children’s play to discover what it is the children are learning and then to help shape and extend this learning. The choices and experiences we provide are developed from our observations of the children and their abilities, their interests and understandings and from events occurring in the world around us.
Experience and observations from the past has shown that children enjoy a play-based program focused on exploration of our natural environment, its plants and creatures, the seasonal changes, cultural celebrations, ourselves and our families. Read More
